725 Howard Avenue New Orleans, LA 70130 Golden-edged pies stand alongside roast turkey as harbingers of the holidays. In the chaos that is the holiday kitchen, we'll use every tip, trick, and technique we can to make things a little more streamlined and delicious. In this hands-on crash course, Melissa Martin will help us master her recipe for tender, flaky dough and show us how to whip up classic yet modern fillings. We'll learn how to shape crusts into double-crust pies, galettes, and hand pies, plus decorate them with lattice tops and creative cuts so they're the prettiest thing on the dessert table. Each guest will leave with one fully assembled pie, which can be baked on the spot or frozen and baked just before Thanksgiving, plus an extra batch of their own handmade pie crust for on-the-spot rolling at home. Once we wash the flour off our hands, we'll all sit down for family dinner (savory pie, of course, plus salad and wine).
