Now in its 31st year, Japan Fest has proven to be one of the most popular yearly events at NOMA. Savor traditional foods. Pose in a samurai warrior costume. Admire the graceful motion of the Minyo dancers and the heart-pounding beat of the Kaminari Taiko drummers. The daylong event offers a stimulating array of programs and entertainment for visitors of all ages, along with tours, information booths, and food vendors. In recent years the autumn festival has drawn local fans of cosplay who dress in costumes from animé illustrations, including the ever-popular Pokémon, and the Lolita fashions of Tokyo's Harajuku Street subculture. Costuming is encouraged, but please abide by NOMA's guidelines for safety and protection of the artworks. Admission to Japan Fest is free to NOMA members and $5 for all others. View the full schedule and join us for a day of cultural discovery.
This weekend also marks the final opportunity to view the popular exhibition Regina Scully | Japanese Landscape: Inner Journeys.
