“Fashion in the Park: A Fusion of Fashion, Art, and Music”



“Fashion in the Park” is the Lower Garden District community event that presents the fusion of New Orleans fashion, art and music. FITP is also an event to showcase a vital and re-emerging neighborhood. This year’s event will build upon the prior two FITP productions and this Fall 2007 installment has been expanded to broaden its appeal. The centerpiece of the event will be a fashion show in Sophie Wright Park starting at dusk. The fashion show will feature the designs and styles of the local boutiques and salons. There will also be free performances by the Soul Rebels Brass Band at 5:00pm, Paul Sanchez & the Rolling Road Show at 8:30pm, DJ performances, along with vendor booths to highlight the offerings of area merchants. The event will be free and open to the public though a $20 VIP ticket includes reserved seating and special hospitality with complimentary drinks and food. The Backbeat Foundation (www.backbeatfoundation.org) New Orleans 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to foster support of the rich New Orleans cultural heritage, will present the event along with select Lower Garden District Merchants such as Stardust, Kunflama, Elleone Gallery, Aidan Gill, House of Lounge, Winky’s, Sorella, Vegas, Sophie’s Gelato, J’anita’s and Urban Suite. In addition, the event will be sponsored by Bumble & Bumble, Whole Foods Market, Vitamin Water, Sauza Tequila, WWOZ 90.7, Republic New Orleans, Gambit, Altaer Media, NewOrleans.com, Design Within Reach, Tomatillo’s, and Abita Beer.



The event will benefit the Backbeat Foundation and Hairdressers Unlocking Hope, in addition to generating neighborhood goodwill and exposure for the merchants in the Lower Garden District segment of Magazine Street.
