I grew up in Gretna on the West bank. I remember being on the floats throwing beads to all the people when I was a kid. My grandmother used to own a bar in New Orleans and I have so many fond memories of the sights, sounds, smells and the people. I couldn't have asked for a more diverse place to grow up. I miss it so bad it pains my heart. I'm getting married in June and my fiancé has never been to New Orleans so we have decided to go there for our honeymoon. My father still lives there and I can't wait to go back. One of my favorite places to go are the cities of the dead. The whole place has this aura about it. So many stories and so many people. Enchanting and romantic. I am proud of my Creole heritage and I'm glad to see that others enjoy New Orleans as much as I do. It's a beautiful place...
