My heart aches for this beloved city. New Orleans has my prayers, my donations and anything else I can do from VA. My first New Orleans experience was Mardi Gras at the tender age of 16! Our high school band participated in the Hermes and Endymion parades, where I and my classmates had experiences musically and culturally that we will never forget. We were exhausted having never marched such distances at one time, but were encouraged by the spirit of the people and the finally of marching through the Superdome. I will never forget. As an adult, I've been back to cruise from the port and participate in the Essence festival, at an age in which I could really enjoy the city and I love it even more. By far the most welcoming city I've encountered in this country! New Orleans will be back, maybe not quite the same, but it will be back and when it does, I will be back as well. Those of us who have visited and love this city will not desert it or its people. Thanks for the memories NO!
