My first experience in New Orleans occurred in April during the French Quarter festival. A few friends and I went to New Orleans originally for a archaeological conference but none of us ever made it to the conference .. because the whole city me by surprise. I'm from the midwest and it was hard for me to believe that a city exists where you can find a bar open all night. The music was also great. The first day that we were there was a great band playing near our hotel. The French quarter festival had great music all day long. The greatest part of our trip was of course Bourbon Street. What else can you say about it? ... All I can say is that New Orleans rules and I can't wait to go back again.
