I was also born and raised in New Orleans on the Westbank in Gretna. Not a day goes by that I don't long to be back home. The thing I miss the most has to be the food ... muffalata's, poboys, crawfish, gumbo shall I go on. I have been gone for 13 years but it feels like just yesterday I was in the French Quarter after the Mardi Gras parades had ended. I do know first hand what it means to miss new orleans when that is where you left your heart.
