Walt Whitman
On the corner of St. Peter Street
in the city of
New Orleans
Crawfish, Beer, and Jazz
flowed through the
gutters of Bourbon Street
in the city of
New Orleans
Purple, Gold and Green
Doubloons, beads and banners
danced through the night
on Canal Street
in the city of
New Orleans
my body took a jet plane
back to California...
but my heart remained
in a Reveler’s tear,
in the city of
New Orleans...
