The New Orleans Opera Association’s Junior Committee is excited to host the 20th Anniversary of their largest fundraiser, the Wine Auction! They cordially invite everyone to tango with Carmen! This year’s event will have a Spanish theme in celebration of the first opera to be performed in the renovated Mahalia Jackson Theatre, Carmen!
The 20th Annual Wine Auction is scheduled for January 31, 2009, 7 p.m. – 8 p.m. Patron Party, 8 p.m. – 11 p.m. Silent & Live Auctions @ The Parkview Terrace in New Orleans City Park. Tickets are $75 for the Patron Party & $50 for the Regular Party (Auction) and may be purchased by contacting New Orleans Opera Association at 504-529-2278 ext: 227
Chairman Charla Spalluto said, “the Junior Committee is dedicated to promoting opera and opera education, therefore 100% of the proceeds of this fundraiser will benefit the Opera Association. This year, we have a remarkable selection of wine to auction, along with various restaurant, spa, jewelry, artwork, and fitness packages, and two fabulous trips: a San Francisco Winery Tour and a Chicago Opera Trip. And we are honored to have Anais St. John perform for the Patrons and Terc Martinez perform for the Regular Party. Their appearance is so special and dear to us!”
Now, more than ever, our commitment to sustaining opera in New Orleans is crucial. New Orleans’ rich cultural heritage and institutions, such as the New Orleans Opera Association, are what makes our city shine. We are America’s first city of opera.
This is one of the largest fundraisers for the N.O. Opera Association – 20th Annual Wine Auction. All proceeds from the Wine Auction directly support the N.O. Opera Association. Sponsors of the Wine Auction include: Bacardi USA, Regions Bank, Republic National Distributing, Sake Café, Tales of the Cocktail, Zea Rotisserie & Grill.
