Hi Everybody,
I wanted to let you know I'm performing my hour-long solo show on
piano at Peaches Records in New Orleans at 408 N. Peters (where Tower
Records was) at 1 pm today, Saturday January 31st and next Friday
February 6th at 1 pm, to continue promoting my new CD, "Katrina
Anthem" on Patty Lee Records. It's always free for all ages and is a
pleasant setting in the French Quarter. If you are out and about, and
haven't had a chance to enjoy my music yet, stop on by.
The seven songs on "Katrina Anthem" are a collection of six of my
songs (appropriate to this new CD) from my CDs, "Alligator Ball and
"Sizzlin'". It also features my own Katrina anthem titled, "Orleans
Lullaby" about how we all couldn't sleep after Katrina:
"Starlight on the river
Starlight on the lake
We've been changed forever
Help us sleep, help us sleep."
This CD product was produced by Patty Lee who even took the photo for
the cover-art of City Park after Katrina which reminds us how
beautiful our city is. She also selected the songs for this CD.
All-star music cast of superstar players on "Katrina Anthem" include
my musician friends: the late Danny Federici from Bruce Springsteen's
E-Street Band playing a very poignant and sweet accordion on
"Creole-Goodby" in particular; Kenny Gradney, bass player for Little
Feat who I toured with at one time for an Epic Records artist and
songwriter Micheal Smotherman; Dony Wynn, past drummer for Robert
Palmer who I also toured with for Epic Records; Stanley Behrens on sax
who plays with my band in Los Angeles whenever I'm in Hollywood and
who is the touring lead singer for Canned Heat; Kirk Bruner, former
drummer for Melissa Manchester and Mac Davis who is my regular drummer
in L.A. and played drums on some tunes and also jumped in on back-ups
and trumpet; the late fiddle-man Doug Atwell who was well-featured on
"Creole Good-By" with Federici's accordion; Stephen Allen on sax who
plays with Rita Coolidge and has guested with my band in L.A.;
Samantha Newark on back-ups who was "Annie" on Broadway and is a lead
singer; Marabina Jaimes on back-ups who is my regular back-up singer
in L.A. and won an Emmy for hosting a PBS series; Hedy Mayer on
back-ups who is also my regular back-up singer in L.A. and who has
recorded with Mark Lindsay, the former lead singer of Paul Revere and
the Raiders; and, Canadian Paul Devillers who produced YES and Mr.
Mister and mixed four of my songs for this CD while also being a
surprise guest on acoustic guitar.
Where Y'At music editor Sheri McKee penned a great review recently of
"Katrina Anthem" along with a nice write-up about my entertainment at
the Ritz-Carlton New Orleans where I have now started my third year
with them as a piano staple.
Thank you in advance for checking out my new CD package. Hope you like it.
Thanks,
Armand
