Words of Wisdom

Mankind is an able creature,
but he has made 32,600,000 laws,
and hasn't yet improved on the Ten Commandments.

Words of Wisdom
from Gloucester Cathedral
Gloucester, England

Go your way in peace.
Be of good courage.
Hold fast to that which is good;
Render to no man evil for evil.
Strengthen the fainthearted,
Support the weak,
Help and cheer the sick,
Honor all men,
Love and serve the Lord;
And may the blessing of God
Be upon you and remain with you forever.

P R A Y E R

(by an unknown Confederate soldier)

I asked God for strength, that I might achieve;
I was made weak, that I might learn humbly to obey.

I asked for health, that I might do greater things;
I was given infirmity, that I might do better things.

I asked for riches, that I might be happy;
I was given poverty, that I might be wise.

I asked for power, that I might have the praise of men;
I was given weakness, that I might feel the need of God.

I asked for all things, that I might enjoy life;
I was given life, that I might enjoy all things.

I got nothing that I asked for -- but everything
I had hoped for.

Almost despite myself, my unspoken prayers
were answered.

I am among all men,
...most richly blessed.

SUCCESS

To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

smiley faceSMILE!

Laughter is in a certain sense food for the soul. We cannot live without it, for we slowly disintegrate, pine away, and die. Many things we do in life is relative to laughter. To laugh is to love; to laugh is to understand; to laugh is to forgive. We must laugh.

The laughter of children is beautiful. And a SMILE can be uplifting. Let me tell you the meaning of a smile. It costs nothing. It creates much. It enriches those who receive it without impoverishing those who give. It happens in a flash and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever.

There are none so rich that they can live without it, and none so poor that they are not made richer by its benefits. It creates happiness in the home, fosters good will in business, and is the counter-sign of friends. It is rest to the weary, daylight to the discouraged, sunshine to the sad. And one of nature's best antidotes for our troubles.

And yet, it cannot be begged, bought, borrowed, or stolen--for it is something that is no earthly good to anyone, until it is given away.

So, if in the course of the day your friends may be too tired to give you a smile, then why don't you give them one of yours; because nobody needs a smile more than those who have none left to give.

Good Old Advice

When you come home from work, do you leave the workplace behind, or do you bring the workplace home with you? Bringing the workplace home is not healthy. Turn the work "off" when the day's work is done!

What kind of movies do you watch these days? Watch a movie that is too good to be true! A movie that will take you away from the everyday problems of real life...and refresh you. Old musicals are great movies to relax by...perfect for the weekends!

Get out and take a hike in the late afternoons, and enjoy the surroundings. Take in a pretty sunset, and slow down your pace and live! God gave us many gifts in this life, and we pass so many of them by.

Jesus Christ Himself noticed the beauty that the Father created. Did He not mention the lillies of the field and the sparrows in flight? Did He not mention that if God cares so much for the sparrows, how much more does He care for you! The fact is that He loves you much, much more.
