September 12 Fundraiser Aids PreservationEffort
Put on pause in2020, the annual fundraising event for the Beauregard-Keyes HistoricHouse & Gardens returns on Sunday, September 12, with a new name,new date and new look but with the same goal to continue to preserveand maintain the French Quarter architectural gem that’s been hometo notable figures since 1826.
This year’scelebration will take place from 5-8 pm with a movable feast offabulous food, cocktails and entertainment throughout the historicinterior and exterior courtyards. Bon Bon Vivant and The Last Strawswill perform outdoors, and a delicious Sunday supper will be providedby Palate New Orleans. Attendees will also get a first peek at thenewly restored dependency where Frances Parkinson Keyes lived andpenned famous novels such as Dinnerat Antoines until her death in 1970.
Soiree’ chairsHal Williamson and Dr. Dale LeBlanc felt that the move from spring tofall would be best represented with a fresh approach that highlightsthe variety of open spaces and changes the vibe of the event. “Wedepend on our community for support and want our patrons to be in asafe environment for a festive evening of fellowship. Soiree’ justfeels like more fun on a Sunday afternoon!”
Annie Irvin, BKexecutive director, said Covid protocols will be strictly enforced,and attendees will be required to mask up and show proof ofvaccination or negative Covid testing results 72-hours prior to theSoiree’. “Our historic property is a living, on-goingpreservation project that requires painstaking accuracy andauthenticity and use of skilled craftsmen for repairs andconstruction,” commented Irvin. “Our annual fundraiser isessential, as well as support from foundations, corporations andindividuals, is paramount to our survival and ability to offer variedprogramming.”
TheBeauregard-Keyes House is located at 1113 Chartres Street, acrossfrom the Old Ursulines Convent. Nearby parking is available at theFrench Market Riverfront lots or surrounding streets. A wide screenTV will be set up for Saints fans who don’t want to miss a play.
Ticketsand sponsorship categories range from $250 per couple to $15,000 withbenefits commensurate with each level and may be purchased in advancefrom bkhouse.org based on availability. Supporters 40 and under maysecure two tickets for $150. For additional information, call504-523-7257.
