Tim Laughlin Offers A Salute to Great NewOrleans Clarinetists

One of the city’smost in-demand clarinetists and a favorite at French Quarter Festivaland JazzFest, New Orleans’ own Tim Laughlin will bring his musicaltalents to the historic Beauregard-Keyes House on Sunday, August 15. Laughlin will pay tribute to clarinet legends Jonny Dodds, PeteFountain, Louis Cottrell, Eddie Miller, Irving Fazola, GeorgeLewis and many others during a 90-minute concert in the Salle AManger, or dining room, of the 1826 Vieux Carre landmark.

Laughlin’s 40+ year musical careerhas taken him from Bourbon Street to Carnegie Hall and more than 20countries but his nightly Royal Street home-balcony concerts forneighbors brought him unexpected national and internationalrecognition during the Covid-19 shutdown. Laughlin, whose “Isle ofOrleans” CD won awards and movie placements, enjoyed presenting thefree concerts, saying, “It was my chance to bring music to a veryquiet French Quarter and to give our community hope at a time ofisolation and despair.”

Accompanying Laughlin will be NewOrleans guitarist and composer Nahum Zdybel and Taylor Kent, anestablished based player with several bands and sometimes theLouisiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

Doorsopen at 6 pm; the performance beginsat 6:30 pm. The Beauregard-KeyesHouse is located at 1113 Chartres Street, across from the OldUrsulines Convent. Nearby parking is available at the French MarketRiverfront lots or surrounding streets.

Ticketsare $35 and may be purchased in advance from bkhouse.org based onavailability. Seating is open on a first-come, first serve basis inthe air-conditioned venue. Guests are encouraged to bring their ownbeverages along with extra cups and wine openers.

About: Beauregard-Keyes HistoricHouse & Gardens was built in 1826 and purchased by noted authorFrances Parkinson Keyes in 1948 and restored under her loving care. The board of trustees is currently conducting an on-going capitalimprovements project to restore the dependency where Mrs. Keyes liveduntil her death in 1970. This Concert, along with grants, donations,and other fundraising events will help generate the more than$400,000 needed for this restoration and future capital improvementprojects.
