NOLA River Fest
- Date: TBD
- Location: New Orleans Jazz Museum
The annual NOLA River Fest celebrates the cultural, economic and environmental impacts of the Mississippi River and its inhabitants in the Crescent City and the entire Gulf South region. The all-day celebration at the New Orleans Jazz Museum will include live music, delicious local food, a full bar, and more. Live music will include performances by Tremé-Lafitte Brass Band, Sunpie and the Sunspot, Bo Dollis Jr. & the Wild Magnolias and Jason Neville Funky Soul Band.
The N’Awlins D’Awlins Babydolls and the Original Wild Tchoupitoulas Mardi Gras Indians led by Big Queen Mary K Stevenson will start the day off with a second line, beginning at 11:00 am in Jackson Square and heading towards the New Orleans Jazz Museum.
“As we continue to navigate the COVID pandemic and recover from damage caused by hurricane Ida, it’s all the more important we keep our cultural traditions alive,” said Greg Lambousy, Director of the New Orleans Jazz Museum. “Fortunately, with our large grounds that take up an entire city block, the New Orleans Jazz Museum is uniquely positioned to make this happen.”
Food vendors at this year’s River Fest include Carmo, Clesi’s Seafood, Street and Soul 504, and Friends of Culture. Riverfest features all local vendors, and the food served will highlight the Caribbean influences and traditions on the Gulf Coast cuisine. In collaboration with the Louisiana Crafts Guild, an outdoor arts market with local artisans will also take place on the Museum grounds from 12:00pm to 6:00pm.
River Fest is presented by a coalition of institutions that include the New Orleans Jazz Museum, Restore the Mississippi River Delta, Water Collaborative, and the French Market Corporation; this year’s festival partners include the Louisiana Seafood Board, National Wildlife Foundation, New Orleans Master Gardeners, LSU Agricultural Center, Louisiana 4-H Foundation, Offbeat Magazine, and the Ella Project. Maker’s Mark is this year’s presenting sponsor. Other sponsors include Evamore, UNO Federal Credit Union, Hilton Hotels and the National Wildlife Foundation.
