Brighten up the Bayou: Al Copeland Foundation's First Annual Event to Support Pediatric Cancer Patients At Children’s Hospital

New Orleans, LA — The Al Copeland Foundation (ACF) invites the community to participate in its first annual event, "Brighten up the Bayou," from December 1st to December 30th, a heartwarming initiative aimed at raising funds for pediatric cancer patients during this holiday season.

In homage to the late Al Copeland Sr. and his cherished legacy of illuminating New Orleans with an extravagant Christmas lights display, the Al Copeland Foundation is harnessing the festive spirit to benefit children and families fighting cancer at Children's Hospital New Orleans.

Participants are encouraged to sign up using the "Register Now" button on the website and receive a printable donation sign, designed for showcasing in their yards. Each sign features a custom QR code, allowing passersby to easily scan and make donations, contributing to the cause.

A friendly neighborhood challenge is underway to see who can shine the brightest in the bayou, inspiring a vibrant community spirit. Engage your neighbors, decorate your yards, and let your enthusiasm for the cause glow brightly!

The kickoff for this charitable celebration will take place on December 1, 2023, at Lafreniere Park, where the Al Copeland Foundation and Jefferson Parish will illuminate the park with festive Christmas lights. Throughout the park, strategically placed ACF yard signs with QR codes will facilitate donations. All proceeds will benefit the Al Copeland Foundation Patient Assistance Fund at Children's Hospital New Orleans, funds raised within the park directly aid pediatric cancer patients and their families in Jefferson Parish.

“Together, let's kindle hope, spread joy, and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those battling pediatric cancer. Join us in commemorating my dad’s legacy by brightening the holidays for the little heroes at Children's Hospital of New Orleans.” said Al Copeland Jr.
