Gentilly Fest New Orleans

October is Time for Gentilly Fest

This October, you can help make a difference in New Orleans’ Gentilly neighborhood and have a ton of fun while doing it.

From its beginnings nine years ago, the annual Gentilly Fest has aimed to raise funds to aid in the rebuilding and continued growth of the Gentilly area.  The focus is on a variety of groups whose hard work makes this possible, such as New Orleans police and fire departments and other organizations that support recreational opportunities and cultural enhancement in Gentilly.

Celebrate with music

Everybody has a great time at Gentilly Fest, and great music is always a big part of it.  This year, you can enjoy music from the main stage Friday evening and all day Saturday and Sunday.

Celebrate with food

Nobody’s going to go home hungry, if last year’s food vendors are any indication of what’s in store come October.  Here are a few food items people enjoyed: smoked turkey legs, fried oyster and crab poboys, shrimp and crawfish pasta, pulled pork, bayou deviled crabs, hot chicken wings, peach cobbler and white chocolate bread pudding.

Just for kids

Adults have a blast at Gentilly Fest, and so do kids. In the Kids Village, past events have included pony rides, rock climbing, pottery making, video games and garden crafts as well as stories and a chance to see a real live fire truck from the New Orleans Fire Department.  Lots of kid-friendly music and performances happened last year, so expect plenty of excitement this year.

In addition to all that, Gentilly Fest will also give attendees plenty of important recovery information provided by local organizations.  It’s all about community and a chance for friends and families to party and enjoy an October weekend in an environment that’s both safe and festive while building relationships with police, fire and EMS personnel as well as elected officials, all of whom contribute to making Gentilly a happy and livable community.
