Gretna Heritage Festival

8/9/21 --

The 2021 Gretna Heritage Festival is CANCELLED due to Covid concerns!

The Gretna Heritage Festival provides the atmosphere of a small block party, but just happens to take up all of historic downtown Gretna, Louisiana. Twenty-five city blocks to be precise.

With 75 local and international acts performing on 7 state of the art sound stages and a food court with dozens of local vendors serving up 150 dishes ranging from Vietnamese Spring Rolls to Corn Crab Bisque in a bread bowl and Cajun Crawfish Pasta, the Gretna Heritage Festival knows how to keep the crowds happy.

The festival is traditionally held on the first weekend of October and features big-name music acts like Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire and ZZ Top , a German Beer Garden (Oktoberfest time!), the Italian Village, more 80 than arts and crafts booths, and carnival rides and games. It’s a good time for the whole family.

Despite being just across the river from New Orleans, Gretna maintains a welcoming small-town charm that creates a laid-back atmosphere for this autumn festival. The Gretna Heritage Festival has been running strong for 18 years now, having featured acts like REO Speedwagon, Travis Tritt, the Beach Boys, the Doobie Brothers, the Charlie Daniels Band, Chicago, Los Lonely Boys, and Kool & the Gang.

Advance tickets are $15 per day. Children 12 and under are admitted for free.

Directions to the Gretna Heritage Festival

There is a free pedestrian ferry ride across the Mississippi River from the Canal Street Ferry Dock to the Gretna Ferry Landing. The festival offers free parking and free shuttle rides from the parking lots at the Westside Shopping Center and Oakwood Center in Terrrytown. The event will take place throughout the downtown area with the Main Stage and Riverfront Stage are located directly on the Mississippi River off 1st Street.
