Welcome to the blog for ExperienceNewOrleans.com! Since this is our first posting, we thought we would give you a little history behind the first site in New Orleans devoted to reaching out to tourists and personally helping them plan their visits back in 1994.

In 1993, my husband's job transferred him out of New Orleans, and we used the internet to communicate until he could return. (I had always told him I never wanted to leave New Orleans, and after living here only a few years here, he felt the same.) While online, we were surprised when so many people contacted us with questions about New Orleans .. and even more surprised to discover they had such a negative perception of the city we loved.

At that time, there were only a few sites on the internet about Mardi Gras in New Orleans, and you can imagine how they portrayed it. We were shocked … we wanted the world to know what Mardi Gras really was and what it means to locals and those who love our great city and its Mardi Gras parades.

We kept a file of all of the questions we found we were asked, and decided to create a site showcasing the best of New Orleans .. ExperienceNewOrleans.com.

During the 2 years he was out of town, he used his spare time to dig deep into this new innovative thing called the internet, and learned how to hand code web pages when most of us didn't know what a browser was. I had no idea what would happen next.
