For sports enthusiasts, New Orleans has so much to offer ... especially this time of the year. All eyes are on the New Orleans Saints to have another great NFL season. Last year they were just one game away from heading to the SuperBowl. With the starting quarterback in last season's Pro Bowl, Drew Brees, along with great running backs Reggie Bush and Deuce McAllister ... in addition to a top notch league defense including another Pro-Bowler, Will Smith, it's hard not to think that this could be "the year" to go the distance.
College Football is also HUGE here in the New Orleans area. 99% of locals are either LSU or Tulane fans who love their team and have hopes that they will be able to play for the NCAA National Championship this year right here in the Sugar Bowl.
October also means that it's time for HOOPS. The NBA New Orleans Hornets will have their first full season back in New Orleans since Katrina. Round ball fans can't wait to get courtside for some FANtastic moves not only from CP3 and other super Hornets players but from all the great NBA All Stars. Also...when it comes to great basketball...fans can enjoy this sport practically any night of the week. Just check out the B-Ball schedule for the University of New Orleans, Tulane, Xavier, Dillard and LSU (just an hour away)!
Other options for fans include a National Tennis Association tournament this fall (details to follow), Thanksgiving Day is always opening day for horseracing at the New Orleans Fairgrounds Race Course and for those who love to fish...we have always been known as the "Sportsman's Paradise"!
So, if you like sports...you will love New Orleans! Plan your trip now so you can "pass a good time" while enjoying your favorite pastime.
