New Orleans Parks
One of the most famous architects to work in New Orleans is Mother Nature. California has its redwood forests, and we have our parks filled with ancient live oak trees, beautiful gardens, statuary, and walking paths for enjoying it all. Come spend a day in the shade.

Audubon Park
Home to about 150 oak trees, some of which have stood proudly over the area for more than 250 years, Audubon Park is one of the most beloved greenspaces in New Orleans. Located Uptown, the park stretches from St. Charles Avenue, where it faces Tulane and Loyola universities, past Magazine Street and to the Mississippi River, where it ends at The Fly behind Audubon Zoo.

Lafayette Square
Known for its “Wednesdays in the Square” concert series, Lafayette Square is a prized greenspace located in the Central Business District. It’s an invting piece of nature in the middle of towering goverment and office buildings and loft apartments. The 2.5-acre park is situated across St. Charles Avenue from Gallier Hall, which housed the city government for over 100 years.

Louis Armstrong Park
Named for New Orleans’ most famous son, Armstrong Park off Rampart Street is a jumping off point for tours of the Treme, America’s oldest African American neighborhood. It is home to hallowed ground, Congo Square, where many believe jazz was born. Several festivals take place here every year.

City Park
Hop the red Canal Street Streetcar and head to City Park, filled with the largest collection of live oak trees in the country and plenty of stuff to do. Take a walk or a jog around Big Lake. Better yet, rent a paddleboat! Alogn with picturesque stone bridges and sleepy bayous, there’s Storyland, Carousel Gardens Amusement Park, the Botancial Gardens, a sculpture garden, both real golf courses and City Putt, a great dog park, the Great Lawn, beignets and more. City Park is bounded by City Park Avenue to the south, Robert E. Lee Blvd. to the north, Wisner Blvd. to the east, and Marconi Drive to the west.

Lafreniere Park
Located in Metairie just outside New Orleans, Lafreniere Park offers greenery and family fun in the heart of Jefferson Parish. The park hosts several large events throughout the year, but year round, it is used for public greenspace, sports games, tournaments, and private parties.

Goldring Woldenberg Riverfront Park
Nestled at the base of Canal Street along the Mississippi Riverfront, Woldenberg Park is an area of picturesque greenspace that offers downtown and French Quarter passersby a front-row view of the river and ample areas for picnics, events, and sight-seeing. The park’s 16 acres are a hotspot for everything from festivals to popular pathways for joggers and bikers. Woldenberg Park is filled with sculptures and artwork to complement the riverfront view.
