New Orleans attractions re-open after Katrina

June 6, 2006 | New Orleans

The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas opened Memorial Day Weekend after an 8 month shutdown because of the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. It was so exciting to be back in the Aquarium, and it appeared to be even more beautiful than before.

Over 80% of the fish and other creatures had not survived Katrina … mostly due to loss of power. It took months, not only to restore the tanks and other sections of the facility, but to also restock their inhabitants. The absence of the Aquarium left a major void as an attraction for all of us of all ages to enjoy. Its reopening was just another step to having our New Orleans back!

Brennan's Restaurant…a culinary phenomenon since 1946…opened on June 8! Damaged by Hurricane Katrina, this world famous landmark is a must when conventioneers and locals visit the French Quarter for a dining experience. We already have reservations! 🙂
