Get Around Town Like A Pro: Transportation Changes

September 18, 2014 | New Orleans

New Orleans public transportation gets you where you want to go—whether it’s hopping on a street car or riding the ferry, it’s a great way to travel! The city’s always looking for ways to make it even better, so here are some exciting changes that have recently happened:

The Ferry Extends Hours: In August, the ferry at Algiers Point/Canal Street
Service Hours extended its hours of operation for more convenient traveling.
Along with the new hours (listed below), weekday service now departs every 30 minute (top of the hour and half hour) and the weekend service departs every 15 minutes (beginning at the top of the hour)
• Monday- Friday: 6:00a.m. – 10 p.m.
• Saturday: 10:45 a.m.  – 8 p.m.
• Sunday: 10:45 a.m. – 6 p.m.

St. Charles Streetcar Route Reopens: The historic green Perley Thomas streetcars have returned service the entire St. Charles Avenue streetcar route. The streetcar route was temporarily out-of-service for a multi-phase improvement and modernization.
