What’s New in 300-Year-Old NOLA?

December 27, 2017 | New Orleans

It’s not exactly breaking news that New Orleans turns 300 this year, but you may not know that, along with all the fun and fascinating Tricentennial events in the works, there’s good news from the airport and the port.

The Louis Armstrong International Airport has been undergoing a renovation that will be complete in 2019 and include uniquely New Orleans restaurants, attractions and shops. Look for names like Pizza Domenica, Mondo, Leah’s Kitchen, Johnny Sanchez and more. Drop by Preservation Hall. Shop at Fleurty Girl. In addition, there are more international flights than ever before, including nonstops to Canada, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama, the United Kingdom and Germany.

There’s also good news for cruise enthusiasts from the Port of New Orleans. In November 2018, Norwegian Cruise will start sailing its nearly 4,000-passenger Norwegian Breakaway from here – the largest ship to call New Orleans its homeport. The huge luxury ship will sail 7-, 10- and 11-day cruises to the Caribbean and will nearly double Norwegian's cruise capacity from our port. Also in late 2018, Royal Caribbean International will return to the Port of New Orleans. The 2,514-passenger Vision of the Seas will offer seven-night itineraries to the Caribbean and Yucatan Peninsula.

Whether you come by plane, ship, train, motorcoach or car, you owe it to yourself to find out why Frommer’s just named New Orleans one of the Best Places to Go in 2018. Start planning your vacation now at experienceneworleans.com.
