Arthur Hardy is one of those people who knows everything about Mardi Gras – but what do you know about Arthur Hardy? Has he ever marched in a parade? What does he think is the most common misperception about Carnival? Most importantly, what does he like to eat on the parade route? A couple of years ago, we sat down with Arthur and asked the questions you want to konw. We hope you'll enjoy this fun interview with "The Mardi Gras Man."

Q: What are some of your favorite memories of Mardi Gras?

A: As a child, marching in my junior high school band in the French Quarter in 1959 before parades were banned there in 1973. As a grown up, being on the Today Show to explain it all.

Q: Have you ever ridden in a parade? Tell us about it.

A: For the past three years, I have ridden in Rex and the experience is spectacular.

Q: Why do you think people come from all around the world to experience Carnival in New Orleans?

A: Nothing else on the planet compares in quality and quantity of the celebration. And it is free to attend.

Q: What do you think is the most common misperception about Mardi Gras in New Orleans?
A: That it is an adult event.

Q: How many parades do you personally attend every year?

A: Probably 20 or so.

Q: What do you like to eat on the parade route?

A: Hot dogs with chili, Zapps and Coors Light.

Q: Why do you think people love your guide?

A: Hopefully because it is accurate, comprehensive and balanced.

Q: What are you most looking forward to this year?

A: The parades and the people. This never gets old!

"MardiGrasNewOrleans.com is a terrific site with accurate information
and opportunities to experience the celebration first hand.”
