March 5, 2026 | New Orleans

The opening of Guys & Dolls at Le Petit Theatre last night hit the jackpot. From the first brassy notes of the overture to the final curtain call, this production proves that when New Orleans theatre rolls the dice, it can come up sevens.

Running March 5–29, 2026, this beloved musical is filled  with energy and heart. Set in Damon Runyon’s colorful world of gamblers, showgirls, and straight-laced missionaries, the story is as fun as ever.

The cast is stacked with local talent who deliver performances that are nothing short of “simply heavenly.” Donald Jones, Jr. is a charismatic Sky Masterson, cool as the Havana breeze and smooth enough to make “Luck Be a Lady” feel like it was written just for him. Opposite him, Stephanie Abry shines as Sarah Brown, bringing warmth, humor, and gorgeous vocals that make their unlikely romance soar.

Meanwhile, Michael Paternostro is hilarious as lovable schemer Nathan Detroit who tries to keep his floating crap game one step ahead of the law—and of his long-suffering fiancée. Speaking of which, Leslie Claverie steals every scene she’s in as Miss Adelaide.

The supporting cast and ensemble keep the show moving “nicely, nicely.” Big musical numbers like “Sit Down, You’re Rockin’ the Boat” bring the house down, while the choreography and lively staging keep the stage buzzing with the kind of old-school musical magic that makes audiences remember why this show has been beloved for generations.

Under the direction of A.J. Allegra and Jauné Buisson, the production strikes a perfect balance of nostalgia and fresh energy—proof that even in a city famous for its music and spectacle, great theatre can still surprise you.

If you’re looking for a night out in the French Quarter that will have you humming all the way home, this is the surest bet in town. The show runs March 5–29, 2026, with evening performances Thursday through Saturday and Sunday matinees.
