There's a great new festival for New Orleans this weekend, June 8-10, on the grounds of the Louisiana State Museum's Old U.S. Mint at 400 Esplanade between Decatur and N. Peters Streets in the French Quarter. The Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 11 am to 6 pm, The New Orleans Seafood Festival events are free to everyone who ever loved eating New Orleans seafood, listening to New Orleans music and appreciating the special ambience of the French Quarter.
The New Orleans Seafood Festival salutes the great chefs and restaurants and the deliciously famous New Orleans seafood cuisine.
The four grass quadrants on the grounds of the Mint will feature the Chef's Demonstration Stage and the Stoli/Malibu music stage. In addition their will be a special fisherman's village as well as food, beverage and retail booths.
Ralph Brennan, owner of three French Quarter Restaurants, took a leading role in gathering the participating French Quarter chefs. The great chefs and their famous restaurants are: Chef Mike Regua, Antoine's; Chef Tommy DiGiovanni, Arnaud's; Chef Chris Montero, Bacco; Chef Susan Spicer, Bayona; Chef Joseph Maynard, Begue's; Chef Neil Mockovak, Bourbon House; Chef Gunter Preuss, Boussard's; Chef Duke Locicero, Café Giovanni; Chef Jack Martinez, Dickie Brennan's Steak House; Chef Dominique MacQuet, Dominique's; Chef Brian Landry, Galatoire's; Chef Tenney Flynn, GW Fins; Chef Nathan Winowich, House of Blues; Chef Paul Prudhomme, K:Paul's Louisiana Kitchen; Chef Michelle McRaney, Mr. B's Bistro; Chef Guy Sockrider, Muriel's; Chef Michael Ruoss, NOLA; Chef Darin Nesbit, Palace Café; Chef Richard Hughes, Pelican Club; Chef Thomas Wolfe, Peristyle; Chef Greg Collier, Red Fish Grill; Chef Anthony Spizale, Rib Room; Chef Scott Boswell, Stella! On Thursday June 7th, these restaurants will offer a Special Seafood and Wine Dinner. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will feature Louisiana special seafood menus. The chefs will salute the fisherman of Louisiana and the bountiful; catch from the bayous, bays and Gulf.
The New Orleans Seafood Festival is offering special hotel packages at the Royal Sonesta, Chateau Sonesta and The Omni Royal Orleans.
