Sugar BowlThe actual game isn’t the only Sugar Bowl event for sports fan in New Orleans this week. There’s also the fan fast and tailgating in Champions Square that are free for fans and anyone that wants to get in on the excitement.

Allstate Fan Fest

The Sugar Bowl activities start on December 31st with the Allstate Fan Fest. It’s a free event that runs two days in Jackson Square and features live concerts, pep rallies for each college and a number of exciting football themed activities for the fans of all ages.

The lineup looks like this:

Monday, Dec. 31 – Huey Lewis and the News Concert – 6:15 p.m.

Tuesday, Jan. 1 – Louisville Cardinals Pep Rally – 3:15 p.m.

"Allstate 60 Seconds of Mayhem" Kick Competition – 4:00 p.m.

Florida Gators Pep Rally – 4:45 p.m.

Allstate AFCA Good Works Team® Introduction – 6:00 p.m.

FUN. Concert – 6:30 p.m.

The Fan Fest is free and open to the public both days from noon to 8 pm. Fan Fest is located at Jackson Square in the Jax Brewery parking lot off Decatur Street (418 North Peters Street).

Allstate Sugar Bowl Fan Jam

On game day, enjoy tailgating in Champions Square. There will be food, drinks, interactive games and entertainment including special appearances by bands and cheerleading squads from both schools.

Admission is free and the fun begins at 4 pm and lasts until kick-off. Champions Square is located on the eastern end of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Whichever team you’re rooting for, I hope you have a good time! I have a feeling you will, it’s an amazing experience to see any game in the Superdome, let alone a bowl game.
